What is RSPCB?
RSPCB stands for Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board.
It is a government authority under the Department of Environment, Government of Rajasthan, responsible for:
- Monitoring and controlling pollution level of (air, water, and noise) in Rajasthan.
- Issuing environmental clearances and ensuring industries are following environmental standards.
- Key environmental laws:
- The Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974
- The Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981
- The Environment (Protection) Act, 1986
Under theses act the State Board has been given powers to collect Cess on the basis of water uses by the industries etc.
This is done with the objectives of preventing and controlling water pollution, as well as maintaining or improving the quality of water.
